01 Curcumin

The most important part of Turmeric to help prevent the symptoms of hangovers is curcumin; which generally makes up 2-8% of Turmeric.

Curcumin acts as a natural anti-inflammatory in the body, which subsequently reduces the intensity of hangover symptoms as many side effects of drinking occurs due to inflammation.

02 L-Cysteine

Numerous Finnish studies prove the amazing effects of the amino acid L-Cysteine, and how it helps to prevent hangover symptoms. As well as taking in supplement form, L-Cysteine can be found naturally in many foods such as eggs, nuts, meat and seeds.

The body creates a toxic by-product named acetaldehyde when trying to metabolise alcohol after drinking. The liver produces enzymes to neutralise acetaldehyde and break it down into CO2 and water. However when excessive amounts of alcohol are consumed, the liver finds it harder to neutralise the acetaldehyde which causes symptoms of a hangover. Studies show that L-Cysteine acts as a boost to allow the liver to neutralise excess alcohol in the your system, reducing hangover symptoms!

03 Black Pepper Extract

The main bioactive compound found in black pepper is piperine, which has many health benefits such as relief from headaches and nausea (two of the worst symptoms of a hangover)! Piperine also acts as an anti-inflammatory in the body and helps to maintain a healthy digestive system.

One of the best aspects of piperine is it's ability to aid absorption of curcumin in our system. This occurs as black pepper enhances the activity of digestive enzymes in the stomach, helping the body to process more curcumin. Piperine also makes it easier for curcumin to pass through the intestinal walls into the bloodstream. Research shows that combining curcumin in turmeric with piperine in black pepper enhances curcumin absorption by up to an incredible 2,000%!

04 Niacin (Vitamin B3)

Niacin is a type of B Vitamin used and produced by the body to support a healthy digestive system, control cholesterol levels, maintain healthy cells and help skin to naturally glow! It also aids in converting food into energy.

Consuming excessive amounts of alcohol can lead to a Niacin deficiency in the body, due to the ability of alcohol to reduce the livers absorption properties. This can cause disruption to many healthy processes and systems in the body which contribute to the symptoms of a hangover.

Niacin helps the break down of alcohol while sleeping to help with feeling refreshed after a night of drinking.
